Obama Video – my response

a few days ago i posted a video i received from a friend of mine on my Myspace. i posted it here on the blog and got some pretty serious feedback. most [if not all] of the comments were from Obama supporters. they said it was bullshit. that his name has nothing to do with his religion. that the pin on the lapel thing was stupid. that Obama is the man. one guy even told me that the national anthem and the Star-Spangled Banner are two different songs [read RIF RAF’s comment]. wtf? haha. regardless… i never really gave u my opinion on the subject. so… here it is:

well i dismissed most of the references to his Muslim background as bigotry and nothing more. just because ur name is Hussein does not make u a radical Muslim. besides… he was raised Christian. not that that makes a difference or anything. im just saying. he’s not Muslim. so that wasn’t a very reasonable argument.

the comments about his gestures [or lack thereof] during the national anthem: i dont put my hand over my heart during the song, i dont see it written as law that u have to. but i can see how NOT doing it could hurt ur campaign with the conservative blue-collar “white” community. but aside from maybe irritating a few white ppl and die-hard patriots, he did nothing wrong.

the only issue that really frightens me was the teaching he is under at this pastors church. in the interview with Jeremiah Wright, the rev repeated mentioned this Black Liberation Theology. and it seems to me that this is a major part of wat he teaches [besides the Bible, which itself is pretty radical if u ask me]. and after doing a relatively soft search on this James Cones guy i was appalled. actually, i take that back. i’ve seen Rev Wright many times on televison [growing up with a rev. fro a step-dad kinda means subing sat. morning preachers for sat. morning cartoons], and after reading some of Cone’s theories on Liberation Theology and how it applies to the African-American community, it all made sense. i never understood how this reverend could spew hate and intolerance while teaching from the same Bible i was reading. and for Obama to willingly subject himself to that kind of indoctrination is what surprised me the most.

that portion of the video was what caught my attention. not the Muslim names or the 2 years in Madagascar [or where ever he was] or the national anthem thing… his 20 years of claiming Wright as his spiritual mentor. granted, religion and politics should remain separate. but when u’ve been presented with ideas of anti-semitism, facism, and intolerance, and remain in that environment for 20 years, i dont want u leading my country. because u either agree with these teachings or dont realize whats being taught. either way, ur not getting my support.

  3. Sen Obama was a member of the Church. Member, meaning tithe paying. As Rev Wright himself said, Obama did not go to Church that often. The children went to Sunday school at Trinity and Michelle Obama went to services more often that Obama did. Both Michelle and Barack were members of several out reach ministries and they paid their tithe and financially supported the ministries they committed to. I ‘think’ Obama felt obligated to the ‘Church’ because this is where it accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior. Remember his mother was an atheist and he would have been grateful for how the Church and Rev Wright brought him to Christ. It’s not ideal, but I understand it. I have to say that I prefer to have a man in the White House that has a persoanl relationship with Jesus Christ than someone who does not. He respects his wife, children and women, he seems fair minded and level headed, he a practical person and a deep thinker and Obama is PROUD of his faith and relationship with Christ, that’s all right with me!

  5. I think so ppl will never except the moral possibilities givin from these facts. Its funny how so many ppl are ready to hate muslims, and ignor his names. Not saying that I care. I work with indians, pakastanies. Im learning hindu/urdu. I see good ppl in there community. Yes hindu ppl are very kind, playful, and respectfull. Muslim are the same but more uptight and traditional (kinda scary) and will look at you stupid if you dont know what your talking about. Just like gangs I have to be carful what I ware around the muslim men. Otherwise youll be offended by the way the look at you, or talk to you. Yes there are good muslim majority are women. They will ride or die fro there man. Are rasied to keep a house, and follow there religion better than what ive seen any cristain do. They are not hipacrits, they are loyal to islam. Dosnt matter if they live in america. and im not against musilm, a good friend of mine is muslim. Not all traditional. She come to work dressed better than me. Holister and all. Long story short her father sent her back to pakistan. Where her whole life will be changed. She was getting to involved with this boy. Point is ignoring there religion, there moral are differend. In america u can have any religion, but still are tought certin morals. Now on a personal note I think this video is more about the many moral obama has been taught. I know jonathan can care less about the muslim names, but sence it was brought up, I decided to tell you a little about muslim ppl. but we have to remember obama was raised cristain. (sarcastically said) eff that ish! I have been harrased in many different ways by an indian man who was born and raised a cristain. And still to this day read his bible and prays, after what he did to me… I mean lets be real, raise your hand if you can call 1 or 2 cristain hipacrits. I know I can. Now just like paulette said, obama was just a member of this church. Yeah he paid tithe, making him a finashial investor of this pastors teaching, who says obama dosnt even show up often. Yeah it would be cool to a black man run as pressident, who believe in jesus crist yours and mine savor. But paulette, you basically just told me obama is a half ass cristain. On top of that you said he felt obligated into going. HA im pretty sure he only felt obligated when every one came to know his pastor was a believer of the black liberation ishh. Just know, that obama sound like a hipacrit. This nigga might as well be muslim, he got the names to match. I mean I havnt met a muslim who missed a dayly azan. And obama cant even folow our countries traditions during the national anthem. He seems muslim enough already. But that wont win the election now would it. He cant even sit next to 2 muslim women. Dosnt look good on camera right LOL. Nonono the funny part is people (like jonathan was saying) are blindly following obama. Son of a muslim black man, and atheist white mother. Now how can you say, logically, that obama was raised cristain. Muslim ppl dont raise there children to be cristain. Atheist dont make it an obligation for there children to follow religion. Thats just dumb. As far as im conserned this whole cristain thing is this lipstick on a pig. Remember ppl we dont know shit about obama. All I know is this whole religion thing is a joke. A lie. And if he cant be real about something so simple as religon, in a country were ur free to believe what ever you want to. Then how can I believe hes going to do half the things he says he would if elected. Humm…

Anyhow ppl. Lets stop trying to make obama sound like hes perfect. Cuzz ur just making him look bad. Just say ur voting for obama because hes black. And black means change for better or worse.

Sry 4 spelling, im on my sidekick. Yahh trick yahhh LOL.
