Why don’t black men date/marry more black women? Why are black men marrying white women at a rate of 32% in California? And why won’t black women branch of into dating other races as willingly as their male counterparts? The subject came up on Facebook and got pretty intense. I felt everybody needs to hear what I said about it.

Black women are goddesses. And I really can’t see why a black man would want anything less. Yes I said less. Black women have been raped, devalued, and neglected as a whole since the first slave ship crossed the Atlantic. And the black men who were their kings and princes have consistently rewarded their loyalty with more neglect and indifference. The strength it must take to watch your husbands, fathers, brothers, and sons humiliated and stripped of their glory and still see the god that dwells in them; still give their life for that man’s seed after he leaves her for a lighter, more “beautiful” woman.

Why do black men go for non-black women? Because they are conditioned to think that “white is right”. And because they will never be white, no matter how hard they try, the next best thing is to go out and get a white woman. Or as close to white as they can get.

So the black woman who slept with the white slave master to save her husband is abandoned by her king when the white slave master tells the black man his wife is a whore. The black man is told that his blackness is evil, that he is not “good”. And without realizing it, he begins to glorify white beauty. Once free, he does not look to rebuild the kingdom that was taken from him, rather he looks to emulate his oppressors. He forsakes the women who gave their lives to protect him. And he runs off with the closest thing to a white girl he can find.

THAT’S the problem. That black men still believe the lie that there is something wrong with their women. And that our woman are SO loyal that they die alone, raising more black men who never truly understand or appreciate the value of a black woman.

Is there anything wrong with interracial dating? No. you can’t choose who you fall in love with. The fact that people [mostly black men] TRY to choose is a problem. So while their mothers and daughters complain about not being able to get a “good black man”, that good black man goes and gets himself a white girl. This in turn sends the message that they, the black mothers who raised him and the black daughters he fathered, are not what he wants or values. By actively seeking non-black, he says to his mothers and daughters that they are not good enough.

Read Malcolm X’s autobiography… he makes it pretty clear. Hell, save yourself some time and watch the movie. Watch how Malcolm does Laura. Even HE realizes the effects his choice to take white over black.

Anyways I’m DEFINITELY beyond rambling now… and I could KEEP going. But I’ll end with this sentiment.

If black is not good enough to marry, then you don’t deserve black as a mother or a daughter.

Bad News by Kanye West [808\'s & Heartbreak]

A heavy heart makes every breath a feat of Olympian proportions. Nervous and tense, his muscles have decided consistent operation is no longer a priority. His mind wanders in cold, barren fields covered in snow as mortars blast holes into the ground surrounding me, until he stands on the porous  face of a dead earth, alone and covered in mud. His gut wrenches. His throat closes. It’s hard to see past his out stretched arms, the haze of a million deaths hide the destruction his words have brought to this once beautiful landscape.

He broke her heart. He brought down her walls. He slipped past her guard. She opened herself to him. Trusted him. And he told her she was beautiful. He told her she was special. He told her she deserved happiness, and that settling for anything less would be a sin. She told him she loved him. He responded with something similar. Their love was not the same. She loved with all her heart. He could not.

When two people decide to love, their lives join and walk together on a common path. Sometimes, it’s easy to walk together: you both have common destinations, or simply like taking the same routes. It’s hard to say when he realized they weren’t headed down the same path, but once he knew, he could only think of the pain that would come to them both when they would part ways. So he made a move- a dumb move.  A move that, although made in good intentions, would only amplify her pain.

He told her what was still true. He reminder her of her value. “You’re beautiful. You’re strong. Don’t ever let anyone tell you any different. I’ll keep telling you until you believe it.” And he didn’t lie. But he didn’t tell her the truth either. The truth was that he was not the man she thought I was. I had changed.

She knows now. She knows he love another. And now the words he had hoped would bring light to her once dark world, now bring pain and anguish; a reminder that she felt comfortable in the arms of the man who betrayed her.

Heartbreak is not a new condition for him. But today, it takes on a whole new feeling. It squeezes in around him and sucks the life from his cheeks. It weighs heavy on his heart and takes its toll on his expression. This is the other side of the coin. This is what Heartbreak feels like for the villain.

Most of us all know what it feels like to mess up. We’ve all made a decision, at least once, that, once final, is immediately recognized as a life changing mistake. Had you come to that realization maybe 3 hours earlier, the story would be different. It would be a story you tell at BBQ’s with friends or family dinners. Instead, you went ahead and made a fool of yourself. Half the time, you can take solace in the fact that you were the only fool, however lonely that may feel. Sure it was a stupid mistake, but no one was hurt in the process.

There are, however, instances in which the innocent are the victims- and it was your mistake that brought them suffering. I have made one such mistake. Not my first of this kind, but certainly of the largest scale, by far. How I wish I could take this burden from them. After all, the bottom line remains clear: I brought them into this mess. Of course reason would say that they had a choice too; that, although it was at my urging, they made a costly mistake as well. But I cannot escape the bare truth: it was I that lead them to disaster.

How does one resolve such a situation? When you have completely changed the landscape of someones future, and you are powerless to fix it, how do you make amends? Words don’t rebuild lives.

I went to Berkeley for a week during my 3 week summer break. never before have i enjoyed sleeping so much. of course the sole reason for my trip was the wonderful Chazi. she took me to SF, where we rode the ferry to Sausalito and toured the Dr. Suess art gallery, napped in the park under a crystal clear blue sky, and watched as the Bay area’s signature fog enveloped the island just as we were leaving.

the adventure continued at the Rose Garden with Casey the English major and Isa the “Film Studies major” [who i believe was a flower in her past life] as we blew bubbles, laid beneath big trees, doodled on benches with sidewalk chalk, and the conquered the Concrete Slide [Casey is nut-so for going down head first haha]. i was reminded that day that a clear blue sky viewed thru the breaks in the sunlit leaves of green was among life’s many simple masterpieces.

the Berkeley foothill had much to offer. from the $5 pizza at Fat Slice, to the $10 junk and jewelery hawked by the bums and “Buddhists” on Telegraph, even the iTunes-sized library of music on file at Rasputin’s, there is something for everyone. I’m sure one day I’ll try to soak it all in. no doubt it would be easier if my mind wasn’t preoccupied with one Chazi. it amazed me to find that an hour in her company could change the complexion of an entire day. from her silly mannerisms and habits [like rambling on and on at the speed of light about stick bugs and biology] to little things she does that make me smile [like squeezing my hand at random moments while we walk down the street], she is seems to define happiness with her existence.

not sure where this train is going. but i know i’m enjoying the ride.

i just took a quick glance at my recent posts and i noticed a horrible trend: they say absolutely nothing. horrible, right?!

well i think its time for that to change. its been awhile since i posted ANYTHING, let alone something with a purpose. so lets catch up:

The past month has been… hectic. between, school, work, trying to vacation, and a juvenile delinquent sibling, days- sometimes weeks- go by in a blur. so rather than go thru all of it chronologically, i’ll just deal with each category individually. yeah? ok…

School… im taking 4 classes. 16 credits. Color Theory. Speech & Communication. 3D Modeling. and Observational Drawing. i hate all of ‘em with exception to my Speech. the only exciting thing about this qrt is th eSketchbook throwdown i bought into [20 bucks] that ends in a few weeks. 50 pages in a sketchbook. best book takes the pot. pretty simple right? its forcing me to step my game up. i like it.

Work… same ol’ same old. not enough hours but im gettin some paper here and there. enough for me to go to Santa Barbara and San Diego, each for a weekend.

Drove down to SB with my homie Haydee :] yeah she’s the shit haha. met up with some old friend of mine, Bri aka B.How and had a great time. good times hahaha.

now THAT was fun. didnt take many pics but i did get a few with my homie Skooter. hadn’t seen him in over a year. got to see NERD rock to show. nearly got trampled up in the front rows. fought off a mosh-pit. fell in love with Patron Orange haha. and boogied on the board with the dude [pause], Rob [pictured above haha]. not to mention dominated in 2 0n 2 ball with my boy Taylor haha.

Which brings me to the less memorable portion of my absense from the blog: my kid brother. he’s been in and out of trouble since the school year started. and now he’s on 30 days house arrest. he has yet to comply with one day of it. tried to hit my mom. tried. tried to hit me. tried. tried to get the older boys in his crew to jump me at my own fuckin’ house. TRIED. i called the cops on ‘em. i am no idiot. no need in me screwin up my life over some dumb shit.

so now, lil bro is on zero tolerance. any hiccups and he’s off to juvie for a year. he can’t even breathe with an attitude. hopefully, he changes his ac. cuz the dirrection he’s going in leads to 2 places. in a cell or in a box. he calls himself a member of the Rollin’ 60′s Crips. thinks he’s from the hood. the closest that boy has been to ANY hood is Garfield & Mountain Ave in Pasadena, CA. he was 3. couldnt even play outside without me watchin him. but he’s a gangsta, wanting to harm the only 2 ppl who have been there for him and gone to bat for him since day one. rather than show some gratitude, he glorifies his child molesting father in prison serving 54 years, without possibility of parole. THAT’s his idol… i dont get it. probably never will.
